Support / Known Issues

Android / iOS installation

The Sword of St. George is pleased to supply it’s listeners with both Android and iOS apps. To download the apps, you need to browse to our website on your smart device. Then, click on the appropriate  link for your device.

Android App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.irdb.radio.kswzlp&hl=en
iOS App (Apple): itms-apps://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kswz-lp-the-sword/id1023886769?ls=1&mt=8

A few people have found that they needed to update the operating system on their phones before they could install our apps (and other apps, as well).

Both Apps update automatically as new versions are released.  You will never be prompted to install updates on your device. Listeners report that the Apps use surprisingly little of their data plan each month.

Known Issues

Stream continuously says “buffering…”

The Sword of St. George requires a solid internet connection to play audio. It is recommended that you have at least a 125 kbps connection. If problems persist, consider limiting use of other applications which may be using your internet bandwidth.

Chrome unsupported or installed adobe flash plugin

Some versions of Chrome do not support Html5 streaming and rely on Adobe flash to listen to the stream. If the native version of Adobe flash plugin is not functioning correctly, Pepper Flash Player can be used as an alternative. The instructions you need to follow will depend on your operating system.

Windows and Mac users can enable (and disable) Pepper Flash Player by following these instructions from Adobe; https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/enable-system-flash-player-google-chrome.html

Linux users can use the debian install guide: https://wiki.debian.org/PepperFlashPlayer

Improving Radio Reception

Our over-the-air signal strength is limited to no more than 100 watts. That and the terrain on the Flinthills makes it difficult to get good reception in some some areas that are within our calculated range.

The quality of the antenna is the greatest limiting factor. Automobiles typically have a pretty good antenna. If you can get The Sword on your car radio at home but not on the radio in your home then these suggestions may help. They are from the C.Crane Company, Inc.
